The new Student Centre at York University is the second one on campus, built to serve the ever growing needs of Canada’s third-largest university. The building features study, meeting, lounge, studio, club offices, assembly and multi-faith prayer spaces for York’s diverse population. Achieving LEED Gold Certification and meeting Toronto Green Standards, sustainable features include green roofs, high performance glazing/curtain wall, reduced energy use through envelope and mechanical systems design and lighting controls.
HVAC systems installed include a district steam to hot water heating transfer plant, variable volume air handling units with energy recovery, fans, split AC units, in-floor heating, and miscellaneous heating equipment. The building has full DDC control down to and including the individual spaces.
