CFMS is providing the commissioning services for the new Canadian Canoe Museum, and so was pleased to learn about the $10M donation from the Federal Government from the Canada Cultural Spaces Fund towards the project. Located in Peterborough, the new facility will be built next to Lock 21 on the Trent-Severn Waterway. Designed by a collaberation between Heneghan Peng Architects and Kearns Mancini Architects, the dramatic state-of-the-art facility will give new life to the current museum, which is housed in an old factory. The new museum will feature a green roof, and is pursuing LEED Silver Certification.
CFMS is proud to be part of a culturally important project such as this, as canoes play such an important role in our history. Read the Globe and Mail article to learn more.
If you want to be a part of this exciting project, donations are still being accepted. Visit the Canadian Canoe Museum Website to contribute.
