Davisville Aquatic Centre is now CaGBC ZCB Certified!

We are pleased to announce that our Davisville Aquatic Centre project has received CaGBC Zero Carbon Building certification. From the Canadian Green Building Council: The "new 38,000 sf Aquatic Community Centre is located within the Davisville Junior Public School site. The new 3 story facility will be located on .452 acres of leased land on the west side of the school site, and will be joined to the existing school by an underground tunnel leading to shared parking under the school. Shared community use of the school facilities is planned for.

The aquatic programme includes a 6-lane lap pool, leisure/tot pool, pool viewing area, change rooms and staff areas. The recreation programme for the new facility includes a dance studio, various MP Rooms, teaching kitchen, and administration/reception, and an active outdoor roof area.

The project will contribute to the city’s larger 2030 Net Zero Emissions goals, and contribute to long term operating cost stability for the community centre. Various sustainable design measures will to be undertaken towards the net zero emissions goal. To achieve CaGBC Zero Carbon Building Standard Certification, this facility is relying on a very high performance building enclosure, with no natural gas usage. Critical elements of the thermal envelope include strategies to minimize thermal bridging and air leakage. To support the stringent goals of the City of Toronto to reduce carbon emissions, the building will use a geothermal system to provide heating and hot water."

The team worked hard to achieving this goal - congrats to everyone involved!  We are proud to be providing the commissioning for this project.
