The New Student Centre at York University officially opened yesterday, and the event was celebrated with a free breakfast for faculty and students alike, followed by a barbeque and carnival. Cannon Design has created another stunner to add to the once drab York campus. The four storey Student Centre houses an array of study, meeting, lounge, studio, club offices, assembly, and multi-faith prayer spaces.
The project was student driven, arising from a need for more student space on campus. The were an integral part of the project through the whole process - from design to yesterday's grand opening.
The New Student Centre was built with sustainability in mind, and is targeting LEED Gold Certification.
CFMS is pleased to have been part of the team, providing the LEED commissioning, with CFMS project manager Jurij Dziuba at the helm!
