CFMS Favourite Project Series - Allan (AJ) Hearn Edition

When asked what my favorite CFMS project was I found it difficult to pinpoint any one site, so instead I narrowed the field and came up with a handful of projects with different aspects that struck a chord with me.

My first major project with CFMS was assisting with the North Bay Regional Health Centre in 2010. On this project the sheer size was intimidating, however I had the privilege of working with amazing companies like PCL, Geo. A. Kelson and Johnson Controls and in the end was able to walk away with a wealth of knowledge and experience that can only be garnered from working on such a substantial project.

With beauty in mind, I would have to say the Myhal Centre for Engineering, Innovation and Entrepreneurship ranks highly. Located on the St. George campus of University of Toronto, we commissioned the renovation of their Visualization Centre and I was treated to the beautiful architecture within. Soaring staircases, geometric seating areas and wooden cladding throughout makes aspects of this structure visually stunning.

Finally, I very much enjoyed working on Richmond Hill HS and Keswick HS, public schools that are part of the York Region District School Board (YRDSB). These 2 schools, both similar in design, very much resemble the high school I attended in Saskatchewan and brought back strong feelings of nostalgia while walking their halls verifying the latest BAS upgrades.

Why Commissioning
