Though it's hard to list just one, one of my favourite's is ZAS Architects Canoe Landing Campus: Community Centre, Elementary Schools, and Childcare. Living in Toronto my whole life, I've seen how much it has grown, especially in recent years. The downtown core has become so dense! This campus is the perfect solution to meet the needs of downtown residents, acknowledging that families make up part of the condo boom population, and offering healthy outlets to all residents by way of the community centre.
On top of the practical side, the design is simply stunning! This is not your run of the mill school or community centre, but an architectural gem that has so much going on, and easily makes it one of the most interesting buildings in the downtown core, in my opinion anyway. I love the active green roof, complete with basketball court and jogging track!
Last but not least, it's built with sustainability in mind, aiming for the highest level of Toronto's Green Standards.
